Embassy of Malta in Vienna celebrates the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia

On the 17th May, the Embassy of Malta in Vienna celebrated the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia and hoisted the rainbow flag on the premises of its Embassy building in the centre of Vienna.  This show of support is aimed to raise awareness and garner solidarity with the LGBTI community in Austria and around the world.


The Embassy also joined the group Diplomats for Equality in a statement which was released on behalf of 40 countries, to the Austrian Press Agency, which was published by the Austrian media. You can find the statement here:



Furthermore, on various social media posts, the Embassy of Malta proudly announced that once again Malta topped the International Gay and Lesbian Association (IGLA) 2020 Index, which ranks countries based on how their laws and policies of each country impact on the lives of LGBTI people. 


On the 21st of May, HE Ambassador Natasha Meli Daudey, who is also the Permanent  Representative of Malta to the OSCE, will deliver a national statement at the OSCE Permanent Council, outlining the strides that Malta has undertaken in the efforts to ensure that human rights and fundamental freedoms are enjoyed by all and in an equal manner without exception.​
