It is advisable to call for an appointment particularly if the Consul’s presence is deemed necessary. 1.     Passports

 

New Maltese passports are biometric and issued by the Passport Office in Malta. Hence applicants must submit their application in person at the Consulate where their biometric data (photograph, fingerprints and signature) is captured electronically and subsequently transmitted to the Passport Office in Malta for processing. Important Notes:

 

1.      Parents attending the Consulate should present their passport as well as the other parent’s passport together with the application of the child or minor.

 

2.     The photos presented together with the application need to be endorsed (at the back) by the same recommender of section 6 and 7 of the passport application form.

 

3.     If you are applying for a new passport due to a change in your surname through marriage please provide your marriage certificate and the birth certificate of your spouse together with your application. If you were married outside Belgium, Luxembourg or Malta please provide legalised/apostilled copies of the required certificates.

 

4.     First time passport applications:

 

·       If you have applied for citizenship through the Embassy of Malta, provide us with your certificate or letter of citizenship;

·       Present a valid form of identification (eg. passport, Maltese ID card, driving license, etc) when submitting your application form; 

·       Complete section 7 of the passport application form and present a certified photograph;

  

Passport fees:

As from 1st January 2015 the fees and validity of passports are as follows:

 

·        Passport for Adult Over 16 years (Jan to Mar and Sept to Dec) - €70

·        Passport for Adult Over 16 years (Apr to Aug) – €80          

·        Passport for Minors aged 10 to 15 years (valid for 5 years) - €40

·        Passport for Minors under 10 years (valid for 2 years) - €16

·         Adminsitration of Oaths (for passports only) - €11

·        Arabic Translation - €7

·        Collective Passport - €95

·        Document of Identity / Emergency Document - €9

·        Diplomatic Passport (issued by Authority only) - €40

·        Refugee Travelling Document (all ages) - €60

·        Alien’s Passport (all ages) - €60

·        Second Passport (issued by special Authority) - €135

·        Urgent Passport for Adults over 16 years (issued within 4 hours) - €140

·        Urgent Passport for Minors aged 10 to 15 years (issued within 4 hours) - €80

·        Urgent Passport for Minors under 10 years (issued within 4 hours) - €60

·        Urgent Passport for Adults over 16 years (issued after office hours only in special cases) - €185

·        Urgent Passport for Minors aged 10 to 15 years (issued after office hours and only in special cases) - €125

Please note that an administration fee of €15 applies for each passport application submitted.

There is an additional Courier Fee of €20 for Urgent Passports.

 

 

2.      Authentication of Documents / Signatures

 

The Malta Embassy may authenticate official stamps or seals issued by the Maltese Government. For such a request please call on ​0032 (0)2 238 2700 / 0032 (0)2 238 2608 or e-mail on maltaembassy.brussels@gov.mt to make an appointment to submit an application. The fee for this service is €18. 

 

3.      Legalisation

4.      Marriage in Malta

 

Maltese citizens planning to marry in Belgium should contact the Belgian marriage registry where they intend to marry.

 

Foreign nationals who wish to marry in Malta should contact the Malta marriage registry by email on pubreg.civilstatus@gov.mt. They may also contact the marriage registry by telephone on: +356 2220 9200 or by mail on Public Registry, Evans Building, Merchants Street, Valletta VLT 2000, Malta.

5.     Visas

6.      Public Registry Certificates

 

Birth, marriage, divorce and death certificates may be registered through the Embassy. Only original and apostilled/legalised certificates can be registered. Applications for registration of documents are processed by the Public Registry in Malta and hence the process can take up to a few weeks. The original certificates are kept by the Public Registry in Malta and will not be returned.

8.     Other Services
