ISIL (Da'esh) and Al-Qaida Regime

Further to the removal of three entities by the UNSC from the list of persons, groups and entities to whom the freezing of funds and economic resources should apply under Resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015), the Council of the European Union on 21 January 2022 decided amend Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 881/2002 accordingly.

Concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al‑Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities

On 17 January 2022, the Security Council Committee pursuant to resolutions 1267 (1999), 1989 (2011) and 2253 (2015) concerning ISIL (Da’esh), Al‑Qaida and associated individuals, groups, undertakings and entities removed three entries from the ISIL (Da’esh) and Al‑Qaida Sanctions List. Therefore, the assets freeze, travel ban and arms embargo set out in paragraph 1 of Security Council resolution 2368 (2017), and adopted under Chapter VII of the Charter of the United Nations, no longer apply to the names set out in the link above.

On 10 January 2022 the Council of the European Union decided to designate seven individuals and three entities under the list of natural and legal persons, entities and bodies subject to restrictive measures set out in Annex I to Regulation (EU) 2019/1716. On 10 January 2022 the Council of the European Union decided to amend Annex I to Regulation (EU) No 224/2014 following the approval of the UNSC Committee established pursuant to UNSC Resolution 2127 which approved the addition of one individual to the list of persons and entities subject to restrictive measures.​

On 03 January 2022, the Sanctions Committee of the United Nations Security Council decided to remove five entries from the list of persons, groups and entities to whom the freezing of funds and economic resources should apply. Accordingly on 07 January 2022 the Council of the EU has amended Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 881/2002. Please kindly consult the above link for further information.
