Minister Evarist Bartolo concludes an official visit to Bahrain

Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Evarist Bartolo, together with the Maltese delegation, concluded an official visit to Bahrain.

During this visit, Minister Bartolo led the delegation in meetings with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, as well as with the Minister for Industry, Trade and Tourism Zayed bin Rashid Alzayani. They spoke on the political, economic and cultural ties between Malta and Bahrain, and also discussed cooperation on organised crime, money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

Among other topics, various bilateral issues were tackled, including the relationship between Bahrain and the European Union, the need to understand each other better, and to work together for the common good.

Developments in Palestine and the rights of the Palestinian people were also discussed. In this regard, Malta reiterated its agreement with the United Nations resolutions to recognise Israel and Palestine as two sovereign states. They also spoke about the latest developments on the nuclear weapons agreement with Iran where they stressed the importance of dialogue in order to calm the situation for the common good in the Gulf region.

The two sides also explored cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, and food security. 

Minister Bartolo stressed that the two countries may prosper from mutual collaboration for the benefit of their peoples.
