Maltese Ambassador meets representatives of the German Länder

This week, Ambassador Xuereb resumed his courtesy calls on the Representatives of the German Federal States in Berlin, including the Representatives of Hamburg and Thuringia.

Earlier this morning, he met State Secretary Almut Möller, Plenipotentiary of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg to the Federation, to the European Union and for Foreign Affairs. Hamburg and Malta share many similar interests, both home to large harbours which are major shipping hubs in Europe. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Sephora Gauci, Deputy Head of Mission. Areas of mutual interest such as Maltese-German relations, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and the regional perspective in the discussion about the future of the European Union were discussed.

Earlier this week, Ambassador Xuereb also met Malte Krückels, State Secretary for Media and Representative of the Free State of Thuringia for Federal Affairs with whom he discussed issues such as trade relations between Malta and Germany and migration. They agreed to look into the possibilities for cooperation between Malta and Thuringia in the economic field as well as in other areas such as education and tourism.
