The Ambassador of Malta to the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr Vanni Xuereb, recently met State Secretary Conrad Clemens, Plenipotentiary of the Free State of Saxony for Federal Affairs in Berlin. They discussed the challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic as well as the process for the roll-out of the vaccine in Malta and Germany. They both agreed on the importance of developing EU supply chains in order to be more independent and resilient.

Ambassador Xuereb and State Secretary Clemens also discussed potential cooperation between Malta and the Free State of Saxony in areas such as energy policy, tourism as well as by promoting cultural and academic exchanges.

State Secretary Clemens invited Ambassador Xuereb to pay an official visit to the Free State of Saxony once the situation with the COVID-19 pandemic allows for such a possibility. The Maltese ambassador gladly accepted the invitation.

This meeting was another in a series of meetings that Ambassador Xuereb is holding with the representatives of the German federal States in Berlin.
