On 6th July, the Ambassador of Malta to the Kingdom of Belgium and the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg had a meeting with the consultants of the Glenaki company who are the representatives of the Malta Tourism Authority for Belgium and Luxembourg.

At the meeting, which took place at the Glenaki offices in Bruges, Ambassador Azzopardi, accompanied by his Deputy and Consul Ms Tania Carabott and Personal Assistant, Nadine Lepère, attended a presentation on the work program for the coming years, in order to attract tourists from Belgium and Luxembourg to Malta.

Representatives of Glenaki, a tourism consultancy, were Brigit Defort Managing Director, Beatrice Mondelaers Senior Consultant and Lisa Van Den Acker, Junior Consultant. They praised the cooperation and interest of Ambassador Azzopardi and the Maltese Embassy who have always collaborated very well together.

All the possibilities were discussed with the representatives of the MTA how the Maltese Embassy can continue to help, so that tourism to our country will gain momentum again and will also be spread in the specialized sectors.

Particular areas were also mentioned such as educational, sports, religious and even health tourism.

The Maltese Embassy is working hard to attract tourists from Belgium and Luxembourg to Malta.

Until 2019 before the Covid-19 pandemic started, Malta was voted as the destination of the year by travel agencies in Belgium.

This year, despite the pandemic, a lot of work has been done in collaboration between the Embassy and MTA representatives in Belgium to increase the number of tourists from Belgium and Luxembourg visiting Gozo and Malta for their holidays.
